On 31st July 2021 India and China had their 12th round of Corps commander-level talks. There has been a much prolonged military standoff in Eastern Ladakh. The meeting comes out with an optimistic approach to make disengagement from Hot springs and Gogra post . The meeting had lasted for 9 hours starting at 10:30 a.m in morning to 7:30 p.m in evening. Finally defence establishment sources are hopeful of reaching an understanding. There are platoon sized trooops of India in both Hot springs and Gogra post along the LAC.
It seems unlikely to resolve issues in Depsang plain and DemChok. China's PLA is blocking India's Troops from accessing their traditional patrolling points in depsang plain.
For this moment any movement in Hot springs and Gogra post would be a breakthrough as there has been a stalemate since more than a year. In Tenth and eleventh Corps commander meet both sides could not even agree on a joint statement unlike previous few rounds. For this reason 12th round is being considered as auspicious. The Indian delegation was led by Lt Gen PGK Menon, commander of XIV Corps which is responsible for the LAC with eastern Ladakh. Maj Gen Liu Lin, commander of the South Xinjiang Military district led the Chinese discussions.
